FREEDOMTweet of the Day...

"There are times in history that mark a turn in policy and this must be one - people turn outrage to action."

~ Medea Benjamin on the Gaza Flotilla crisis.

Memorial Day 2010 ~ Pondering Section 60

The last Monday of May, Memorial Day, is the day when across our Nation we pay homage to the men and women who've lost their life in military service.

It's a day to remember that GREAT sacrifice is made in protection of our collective Freedom. For many, it's a day (one of many) to mourn the lost of a loved one who is no longer with us.

Though I honor all those who've sacrificed that I might live Free, it's the military service people resting in Arlington Cemetery's Section 60 that I think of today.

The military service people of Section 60 are familiar to me because I'm living to see their sacrifice often in the face of the mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, children, family and friends they've left behind.

Maybe too these heroes are familiar because the Iraq and Afghanistan wars that claimed their lives still rage with no definitive end in sight. Have not their casualty reports become an expected element to our daily lives?

Honor our military service people and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice in protection of all we hold dear -- FREEDOM.

Honor these heroes today, tomorrow and always.

Top Kill: Do We Care? Bill Maher Says NO!

I depend on Bill Maher to deliver accurate, straight no chaser, political commentary with a twist of acid wit. Bill's brand of news reporting is most times scathing, and rarely off-point.

Tonight Bill discusses Top Kill with Reporter Philippe Cousteau post his "nightmare dive" into the BP Oil Spill.

Philippe shares nothing we don't already know. The BP Oil Spill is now the worst in HISTORY, exceeding the 1989 Exxon Valdez environmental catastrophe, and no -- our Government doesn't have a clue how to repair the damage to our environment and economy.

I must admit, I cringed when I heard Bill comment that "people just don't give a shit..."; going as far to say maybe we're waiting for an 'Apple' application to be developed that would "fix it".

I cringed for fear that Bill might just be right. I hope not. For all our sake, I hope not.
